MSC, the Italian line where you will find a variety of nationalities even when sailing in North America, wants to get ahead of the pack for the New England and Atlantic Canada cruise season.
The Poesia will be starting its second season sailing out of New York and Quebec — two great cities for arriving early and staying late. I wonder how many Canadians have been to the Maritimes? I took my first cruise last year and enjoyed all of it, but the especially the Canadian ports.
The prices on the market now are available until February 28.
Leaving September 28, a 10-night cruise sails round-trip from New York City with calls in Sydney (NS), Charlottetown, Quebec City, Halifax and Newport, R.I. Rates begin at $899 US.
On October 8, a 7-night cruise that departs New York City and ends in Quebec City includes stops in Halifax, Sydney and Charlottetown. Prices begin at $699.
Exactly one week later, it’s the reverse — the Poesia leaves Quebec City on a 7-night cruise and calls in Saint John, Bar Harbor (Maine), Boston and Newport. Rates begin at $699.
On the last two, you could stay on board, add the two prices together and have a 14-day trip for about $1,400 US. Except for Quebec City, you do not repeat the ports although you do get to see more of Canada on the October 8 cruise.
There’s one more: a 7-night round-trip from New York City, leaving October 22 with calls in Halifax, Saint John, Bar Harbor, Boston and Newport. Starting price is $619.
